Frequently  Asked     Questions

I have no dance experience.  Can I do ZUMBA?

Of course!  In fact, neither of us had dance experience either before we became instructors.  Remember, Zumba is a aerobic class that uses the expression of dance.  It is not a dance class.

I have physical limitations.  Can I do ZUMBA?

We are not qualified to make these discriminations.  With that being said, all Zumba moves can be modified.  We encourage everyone to stay within their physical comfort zone and only do what they feel is safe for them.  If someone wants to come and sway to the music for an hour, they are welcome to do so.  We have had people with physical limitation come to our classes and enjoy them immensely.

Are there age limits for your ZUMBA class?

We have placed a strick 13 year old minimum age requirement for our classes.  The classes are for all adults (any age) and by allowing children, we felt it would change the dynamics of the class.  We hope to generate enough funding to get certified in the children's classes.  If we do, we hope to provide these services but at this time, we are not qualified to do so.  There is not age cap for the classes.  All ages can participate as long as you stay within your physical limits.

Can I Zumba if I am Pregnant?

Anyone can Zumba.  It is about understanding your limitations.  Again, we are not qualified to make this decision.  Some instructors we know are several months pregnant and we have had pregnant students participate in our classes.  All moves can be modified by you.

Can men Zumba?

I am going to put this in pink to be mean.  OF COURSE men can Zumba.  The founder was a man, our instructor was a man and many men participate in Zumba classes all over the world.  In fact, some of the best Zumba instructors we have ever seen were men.

Can two people use one account?

Only one punch card can be used for each person.

Are pre-purchased classes refundable?

All punch cards are nonrefundable and nontransferable. We offer the first class free to allow you to decide if Zumba is for you! When you purchase a punch card that money is immediately invested back into the business or put back into the community through various charitable organizations. Also keep in mind punch cards do not expire. So you can continue to use them any time you choose.

Will the songs all be Latin?

No.  Typically Zumba instructors incorporate about 25% of other song genre into their routines.  We have found that most students enjoy songs they know, so we split our classes 50% Latin and 50% Other.

Will you show us what to do for every song?

The wonderful thing about Zumba is that we don't verbally cue much.  We do, however, physically cue for every song.  We will dance most of the time along with you.  At times, we stop to think or check on students, but just keep going.  It is normal to feel lost at first.  Most students find there is a learning curve because it is so different than other aerobic classes.  Please don't get discouraged or feel silly.  Everyone feels the same way for their first class.  The idea is to just have fun!

Can I stop if I need to?

Can you?  Please do!  We are very relaxed and want you to feel in control of your fitness while you are there.  If you need a break, you can take one at any time.  It is common for students to sit down for a few songs at a time until they build their endurance up.  No one would expect you to run a marathon without training...we don't expect you to do Zumba "full out" the first few times.  Please do what you are comfortable with.  We have added in "intermissions" throughout the routines. When you hear the music say, "It's Intermission" this is a break time that you can take without missing any choreography.

Can I get a drink at any time?

As mentioned before, we have schedule breaks about every 3-4 songs that you can use to get a drink.  If you need a break or a drink before this point, just leave the floor without worry.  You can come back when you feel ready.

Do I need to sign up to participate in a Zumba class?

No, there is no need to sign up to participate. Just come to a scheduled class time at one of our three locations.

What type of payment will you take?

We currently take cash, checks and credit cards.  If checks are rejected, you will be required to pay the standard penalty before participating in another class.

Do I need to stretch before I come?

No.  We will do a warm-up and a cool-down each class and therefore, stretching beforehand is not necesary.  In fact, stretching has been shown to be ineffective for Zumba type actiivities, just come and get ready to have stress-free fun!
